Opened to the public March 2, 2026, replacing the City's landfill on Old McGregor Road (Hannah Hill Road), which stopped taking waste on February 28, 2026. Personal protective equipment is required, and vehicles with backup alarms must use 'white noise' alarms. Brush and concrete go here, not to the transfer station. Not accepted: paint, liquid waste, NiCd, lithium and lead-acid batteries, used motor oil and filters, household hazardous waste, ammunition and explosives, fluorescent light bulbs. Waco residents can also take bulky waste, brush, latex paint, motor oil, appliances and tires to Cobbs Recycling Center. The City holds a free Household Hazardous Waste Day for residents of Bellmead, Hewitt, Lacy Lakeview, Waco and Woodway (last listed: Saturday, May 16, 2026, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Waco Solid Waste Operations Center, 501 Schroeder Drive; pre-registration available).

Who can use it

Open to residences, businesses and industries; McLennan County residents pay a lower rate for municipal solid waste (the page doesn't say what proof is needed). City of Waco residents may dispose of up to 2,000 pounds (one ton) of municipal solid waste four times a year at no extra charge, with their current City of Waco utility bill (paper or electronic) showing residential trash service and a photo ID at each visit.
