A Citizens' Convenience Center at the landfill entrance takes bulky goods and household trash from residential customers only (Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.; non-residents $42 per ton, $25 minimum); fencing, dirt, dead animals and brick go to the working face. A wood recycling center is also on site. Not accepted: tires, lead-acid batteries, motor oil and filters, liquids, paint, pesticides and other hazardous waste, friable asbestos, fuel tanks, closed drums, appliances with Freon, and unsecured loads. Take large appliances to the Garland Recycling Center (1426 Commerce St.) and hazardous waste to the Dallas County Home Chemical Collection Center. Garland's Locations page lists different per-ton rates ($63 automatic dump vehicles, $68 non-automatic, $50 minimum) than the landfill page; rates changed Oct. 1, 2025.

Who can use it

Garland and Sachse residents may dispose of household waste they haul and unload themselves at no cost, with a current driver's license and a recent City utility bill; the waste must come from the home where they live. Rowlett residents get two free visits per calendar year with a Landfill Pass from the City of Rowlett. Non-residents, private haulers and commercial customers pay by the ton. Without proof of residency a non-refundable fee applies ($50 minimum).

Payment: All major credit cards except American Express, cash, and local checks with a copy of the signer's driver's license.
