What it takes

Accepted

  • Household trash
  • Tires
  • Brush and branches
  • Recycling

Fee amounts are from the City Code of Ordinances as amended by Ordinance 2022-26 (June 15, 2022), which the City's transfer station page cites as the tipping and disposal fee schedule. TCEQ lists the permit at 404 S 54th St; the City gives 4900 E. Harrison Rd. Brush and debris are collected curbside once a month. City recycling containers at 1006 South Commerce (Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) take cardboard, paper, aluminum and steel cans and #1 and #2 plastics, but not electronics, used motor oil, paint, pesticides, batteries or tires. No permanent household hazardous waste drop-off was found.

Who can use it

City residents pay resident rates with proof of residency. Residents may dump garbage and brush free once per calendar month, up to 500 lbs, by showing a City water bill with garbage charges, in their name and issued no more than 45 days before the visit; staff may ask for more ID. Non-residents and commercial customers pay the higher rates. City code bars garbage and trash collection or hauling businesses from dumping here, with limited exceptions.

Payment: City code says charges are paid in cash at delivery, and a receipt is given.
