Household hazardous waste goes to the city's Environmental Service Centers; the city's recycling centers (Westpark, Clear Lake/Ellington, Kingwood) also take tires, electronics, batteries, oil, latex paint and antifreeze. Hours are from the city's current Residential Drop-Off Centers page (houstontx.gov); older mirror copies of the city site still show a Wednesday to Sunday schedule, which is out of date.

Who can use it

For City of Houston residents. The city's current Residential Drop-Off Centers page asks residents to present one of the following: a current Texas-issued ID (driver's license, DPS ID, License to Carry or Consulate ID), or a current City of Houston utility bill or lease/rental agreement. Residents whose primary home is outside Texas need a current property tax bill (name must match the ID). For recycling only, a current Texas-issued ID is sufficient.
